OUR PEOPLE

Caroline Earnshaw

Senior Associate
Edinburgh Office
Caroline is a construction lawyer specialising in non-contentious construction law; reviewing, drafting and negotiating construction contracts for projects throughout Scotland.

Business Expertise

Involved in both the public and private sectors, acting for property developers, building contractors or other members of the professional team and funders she provides contract law advice on agreements needed for commercial property developments from the inception stage of a project right through to completion.

Caroline is experienced in using standard form building contracts, sub-contracts, and consultancy agreements (in particular SBCC, NEC, FIDIC suites) as well as reviewing, drafting and negotiating ancillary documents (schedules of amendments, collateral warranties, novation agreements, bonds and guarantees) and bespoke construction and engineering building contracts and appointment agreements.

Caroline works closely with clients to ensure that the construction contracts that they need for each individual project reflect the agreement between the parties and that her clients fully understand their rights and obligations; getting the contract right from the start to avoid disputes further down the line.

Real Estate Expertise

Caroline works closely with colleagues in Commercial Real Estate providing non-contentious construction input into development and funding agreements, agreements for sale or purchase and agreements for lease.

She also has experience of dealing with more general property management construction contracts like licences for works and maintenance contracts.

Caroline has particular interest in regeneration projects, renewable energy projects, and commercial developments in the retail and leisure sectors.
